Music is an important part of everyday life. A good tune can relax or motivate us, and this is as true today as it was for the Florida pioneers over 130 years ago. In the early 1900s, there was an influx of settlers from southern states who came to Pinellas County for work the railroadsBluegrass inside the Palm Harbor Museum and citrus groves. They brought along their music and as the county grew, local residents passed down this love of folk music. Live music is still a major part of the local entertainment scene today.

Drawing on this musical tradition, the Palm Harbor Historical Society, Inc., a not-for-profit organization, will host the second annual Bluegrass Festival on November 12, 2016 to benefit the Palm Harbor Museum. Building on the success of a first year crowd that surpassed expectations, the Second Annual Bluegrass Festival projects more visitors in a larger outdoor venue site, from 11 am to 5 pm in beautiful John Chesnut Senior Park, East Lake, in cooperation with Pinellas County Parks. The festival supports the Museum mission to preserve and share our local heritage in a family friendly event with 2016 proceeds designated for expansion of children's education programming, future museum exhibitions and curator fees.

The Festival will feature continuous traditional bluegrass music performances by several local and well-known bands. There will be Museum display tables and a children's activities area. Local vendors will offer tasty treats, beverages and water. This is an alcohol free event. Lawn chair seating. Jolley Trolley rides to and from parking areas to stage area.
